PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS
On 13.06.2023 and 11.07.2023 PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS of the project took place.
“Moreni in Climate Action” in order to create a matrix of risks and vulnerabilities to climate change in the Municipality of Moreni. Citizens’ perceptions on the impact of climate change were analysed
on their lives and activities in order to implement the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan in Moreni municipality.
More than 50 people were present, from several fields of activity and representatives of civil society.

The theme of the year is “Every gesture counts”
The Municipality of Moreni signed on 24.12.2022, the funding contract with no.25244/BT/24.11.2022 , related to the Ro-Environment Programme for the project “Moreni in Climate Action” funded by EEA and Norwegian Grants 2014-2021 .
The overall objective of the project is to
Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change for the municipality of Moreni
Specific objectives:
- Development of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan for the municipality of Moreni for the period 2022 – 2030 and assessment of the opportunity to join the Global Covenant of Mayors
- Increasing the capacity of the local authority to develop and implement climate-responsible public policies;
- Increasing information and awareness of citizens in Moreni municipality on climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
Project activities:
- Project management
- Development of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan
- Elaboration of the feasibility study “Development of the green corridor along the Cricov river”
- Training for local public administration.
- Public consultations on the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan and the Climate Risk Matrix with stakeholders (companies, trade unions, NGOs, citizens
- Campaign to raise public awareness on climate change.
- Information and Communication
- Final project conference with presentation of the Plan and Matrix, presentation of the Covenant of Mayors and successful projects implemented in Romania and other countries
Direct beneficiaries: residents of Moreni Municipality
Indirect beneficiaries: residents of the area bordering Moreni (Iedera, Valea Lunga, Visinesti, Varfuri, I.L.Caragiale, Măgureni, Filipesti de pădure – Prahova county)

Awareness Campaign” is taking place
The competition – “Climate Action” with the theme “Every action counts”
The competition contributes to raising awareness among students on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. The action is consistent
with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 2012 Doha Agreement and is reflected in European climate change policies.
The contest continues the tradition of more than 15 years of competitions on topical environmental protection issues, competitions with echoes both nationally and internationally that have contributed to the development of the PRONATURA spirit of the young generation. The active involvement of children in environmental activities teaches them to value and protect the fruits of their labour, to protect nature, to recreate and socialize in breaks in an attractive and friendly environment.
